It is a disease that affects more and more people, regardless of age. It’s a complex disorder that impacts the entire body and can have serious consequences.
Obesity isn’t just about excess weight or a look that deviates from the canon of beauty. It’s a chronic disease that won’t go away on its own—one that leads to severe complications with many negative health, psychological, social, and economic consequences.
The complications include type 2 diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis, liver issues stemming from fatty liver steatosis and, rarely discussed, certain malignancies.
Our bodies still function like those of our ancestors—they’re masters at storing energy “for tougher times.” What once helped us survive, now becomes a trap. That’s why effective obesity treatment calls for a comprehensive approach: changing eating habits, increasing physical activity, using pharmacological support or, in some cases, bariatric surgery.
Obesity is prone to relapses, so the fight against it isn’t a sprint but a marathon— but one that is really worth taking part in.
You might first think of BMI or Body Mass Index. However, BMI is just a starting point—a number that doesn’t always reveal the full picture. For example, a bodybuilder might be classified as “overweight” by BMI, despite very little body fat. That’s why we always look deeper: at body composition, lifestyle, and individual predispositions. Each of us is unique and deserves a personalized approach.
It’s like asking how long a journey is when we don’t yet know the destination. Each person begins at a different point, moves at their own pace, and faces unique challenges. One thing is certain—it isn’t a short trip, but rather a life-changing course where new, healthier habits stay with us forever.
My role isn’t to hand out a miracle prescription for quick weight loss. Instead, I’m more of a guide helping you discover your own path to a healthier, happier life. During our journey, we’ll regularly check your progress with body measurements and follow-up tests. Occasionally, I’ll invite other specialists, for instance dieticians, psychologists, or psychiatrists as success often requires different perspectives.
To make our cooperation as effective as possible, please prepare for your appointment:
The first step is an earnest
conversation about your needs
and expectations. I believe
that change only begins with
mutual understanding and trust.
